Our DEMANDS for the
City of Garden Grove:
MORATORIUM NOW: The City of Garden Grove must immediately adopt a moratorium on permits for new and existing military manufacturing facilities while it reviews each facility’s regulatory compliance and implements permanent zoning regulations governing safety, environmental and labor regulations.
STOP GKN’S EXPANSION: The City of Garden Grove must leverage all municipal avenues to block the ongoing expansion of GKN Aerospace’s Garden Grove facility, including pending permits.
BAN HAZARDOUS MILITARY MANUFACTURING NEAR RESIDENTIAL AREAS: The chemical tank malfunction is the latest in a decade of failures at GKN Aerospace, including repeated environmental violations and complicity in Israel’s genocide. The City must amend its land-use and zoning regulations to prohibit hazardous military manufacturing near homes and schools, and establish a clear process to phase out existing operations.

About our Campaign
Located in the middle of working-class communities in Garden Grove, GKN Aerospace is part of the military-industrial supply chain, manufacturing components for military aircraft, including F-35 production.
The GKN chemical crisis that occurred on May 21st, 2026 goes beyond an environmental emergency. It is a warning about what happens when defense and aerospace corporations are allowed to operate in our communities with hazardous chemicals. Our research also reveals a direct link between GKN Aerospace and the Israeli genocide in Gaza and Lebanon, via GKN’s role in the F-35 supply chain. In fact, one of the main reasons for GKN’s proposed expansion is its contract with Israel to double their fleet of F-35 jets, which have been used over the past several years to bomb civilians indiscriminately. This chemical disaster reveals how militarism affects our daily lives in Orange County: over 50,000 people forced to evacuate, dozens of school closures across 6 districts, disrupted livelihoods, toxic exposure risks, and threats to our air, soil, and water. As long as GKN continues to operate in our backyard, the risk of another chemical crisis remains.
We MUST come together to show that the community will not stand idly by as military manufacturers poison our neighborhoods!
